Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the GitSquid desktop application ("the App") and the GitSquid website at gitsquid.dev ("the Website"), collectively referred to as "the Service," provided by GT-ITECH, a French sole proprietorship registered under SIRET 811 179 415 00013, operating under the brand name GitSquid ("we," "us," or "our").

By downloading, installing, or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Description of the Service

GitSquid is a desktop Git GUI client available for macOS, Windows, and Linux. The Service is offered under a freemium model:

  • Free tier: core Git features with limited integrations, tabs, and profiles.
  • Pro tier: all features unlocked for €49 per year, billed annually via Stripe.

2. Account and License

To purchase a Pro license, you must provide a valid email address. Upon purchase, you will receive a license key tied to your email. This license key is personal and non-transferable.

You may activate your Pro license on up to 3 devices simultaneously. If you need additional activations, contact us at .

The App periodically validates your license online by contacting our server. An internet connection is required for license validation.

3. Payment and Billing

All payments are processed securely by Stripe. We do not store your credit card information on our servers.

Pro subscriptions are billed annually. Prices are displayed in Euros (€) and include applicable taxes where required. Your subscription will automatically renew each year unless canceled before the renewal date.

You can manage your subscription and cancel auto-renewal at any time through your account page on the Website.

4. Refund Policy

Because GitSquid offers a fully functional Free tier, you have the opportunity to evaluate the App before purchasing. As a digital product delivered immediately upon purchase, we generally do not offer refunds in accordance with EU consumer rights for digital content.

However, if you experience a technical issue that prevents you from using the Pro features and we are unable to resolve it within a reasonable timeframe, you may request a refund within 14 days of purchase by contacting . Each request will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

5. Free Tier

The Free tier is provided as-is, without warranty. We reserve the right to modify the features included in the Free tier at any time. The Free tier does not require an account or payment information.

6. Third-Party Integrations

The App can connect to third-party services (GitHub, GitLab, BitBucket) using personal access tokens that you provide. These tokens are stored locally on your device, encrypted using Electron's safeStorage API. We never transmit or store your access tokens on our servers.

Your use of third-party services is subject to their respective terms of service and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the availability or behavior of these third-party services.

7. Updates

The App includes an auto-update mechanism that checks for new versions via GitHub Releases. Updates are downloaded and installed with your consent. Pro users receive priority access to new updates.

8. Intellectual Property

The Service, including all code, design, branding, and documentation, is the intellectual property of GitSquid and is protected by applicable copyright and trademark laws. Your purchase grants you a license to use the App; it does not transfer any ownership rights.

You may not reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code of the App, except where such restriction is prohibited by applicable law.

9. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Share, redistribute, or resell your license key.
  • Attempt to circumvent license validation or feature restrictions.
  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. You use the Service at your own risk.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, GitSquid shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or revenue, whether arising from contract, tort, or otherwise, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total liability for any claim arising from or related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

12. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you violate these Terms. Upon termination, your license key will be deactivated. You may terminate your use of the Service at any time by uninstalling the App and canceling your subscription.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through the Website. Your continued use of the Service after such changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of France, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of France.
